The innovative presentation system
What is iPX:
The iPX system is a development allowing interaction with digital worlds just by pointing gestures. Initially designed for museum applications, iPX meanwhile can also be used in other areas such as trade shows and marketing. The viewers of your application can control it by pointing with their fingers. The display method can be chosen as needed and ranges from large flat screens to huge projection walls. Since the iPX system exclusively uses off-the shelf hardware components for realisation, a standard PC and two FireWire cameras (IEEE 1394) are enough to calculate both the video-based recognition of pointing gestures and the presentation of interactive virtual environments on the display in real-time. All technical components except the display device can be hidden from the viewers. This supports the immersive character of the iPX system.
Features of iPX:
- Easy generation of new and maintenance of existing data through strict separation of input and output software modules as stand-alone applications
- Interaction with two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional images and objects
- Instant Reality provides the full range and functionality of standards like VRML and X3D
- The iPX system provides an interface to the operating system, replacing the mouse as input unit for pointing gesture recognition
Usage of iPX:
- Interactive paintings for museums and galleries
- Three-dimensional interactive presentation for marketing and fairs
- Further potential applications, such as the navigation of websites, Flash® applications or PowerPoint® slides
